This was to simply be a panel that had a few "busy" features. At this point I was cocky enough to "dry lab" the circuit and just start putting it together. By the time it was together enough to actually test it, I was reminded of one of those three stooges shorts where they fix the plumbing and water starts coming out of the light bulb. Things sorta worked but not like you would expect.
I spent a lot more time fussing with how the final piece would look than I did about how I was going to functionally make it work.
Rule one:
Don't mount your components and worry about how they will connect later.
Don't be afraid to make templetts out of cheap materials and see if your ideas work in the real world.
